Who We Are

ORIGINS

The Association of Exporters and Manufacturers of Table Olives, ASEMESA, represents the main industries involved in producing, marketing and exporting Spanish table olives. It brings together the majority of the producers and exporters in this sector, in which Spain is the world leader.

ASEMESA was founded in 1920 and is one of Spain’s oldest business federations. It is a nationwide association headquartered in Seville, the province that is home to most of Spain’s table olive production and associated industries.

The association’s name and functions have changed through the years, but it has always remained faithful to the commitments with which it was first founded: representing the sector and defending its interests.

ASEMESA TODAY

ASEMESA is the main association for the Spanish table olive industry. The companies that belong to it account for approximately 70% of the sector’s revenue.

As has always been the case, is main activities are geared toward resolving whatever problems the industry might face, and confronting its main challenges. Thus, the association focuses on environmental issues and on promoting table olives in Spain and overseas.

At the same time, ASEMESA is one of the bodies responsible for the creation and workings of the Inter-Professional Table Olive Association, or Interaceituna. It was founded to defend the interests of, and as a framework for, all companies involved in all aspects of the table olive sector: production, processing and marketing.
